Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football scholarship and community service. His family's first name is he's the youngest out of nine kids raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award as the nation's best lineman. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In his role as an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third season in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for 9 years with the Buccaneers. There were three times he was named All-Pro. He began his business career. By 1988, he became an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he captained the 1975 team. He was promoted to the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
