Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 to a humble family of 12 children eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a vivid imagination. Her songs were written before she could write and read. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was 8 and started performing on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. In the following year, she made her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. While she was at school, she already made a name of herself on the local scene. However, her goal was to to play on a greater scale. After she finished her high school, in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted for the first time on Monument Records. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his television show that was syndicated. Parton was signed to RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), reached the No. number 1 position after the duo split. Its first appearance at No. 1 was 1974.
