Rosalia

Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born and was raised in Barcelona. Her eclectic style of music has earned her the moniker of "atypical pop star". [9] After being enthralled by Spanish folk music as a child of 13years old, she pursued a degree in musicology at Catalonia College of Music while also performing in musical bars and weddings. She finished her studies with distinction thanks to her collaborative cover album together with Raul Refree, Los Angeles (2017) and her Baccalaureate-related project El Mal Querer (2018). Mixing flamenco with hip hop and pop, the album spawned "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu Mira" (single). Both singles have been hugely successful and were praised by critics across the world. El Mal Querer, who was honored with the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year, and was listed in Rolling stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time, started Rosalia's rise into the world of music. Rosalia's 2019 albums "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were pioneers in urbano music, achieving global popularity. With her third studio album Motomami (2022), she introduced reggaeton with an original new twist, moving away from the original flamenco vibe. The album's two singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" attracted the attention of international fans and was the top-rated album on Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten number one singles in her native country throughout her career. This is the highest number she has ever achieved for an artist from her own country. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the Year wins) Four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been presented to Rosalia. She also was awarded two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the sound of mainstream music with her flamenco-influenced pop"[18]. She was also the first Latino-singing artist to be nominated for the Grammys for Best New Artist. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the eldest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who owns a small metalworking company. Jose Manuel Vila, her father, was born in Cudillero. They separated in the year 2019. Her elder sister Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative mind. Rosalia was fascinated by performing arts from at an early age. She was able to discover the discography of Camaron De la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her musical education. She completed a six-year course in the academy. She studied at the Raval School, and then moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. She also independently was a singer on her own at weddings and musical bars, for which she was paid "a less than 80 euros or in exchange for dinner". Rosalia was at the mercy of many underground Spanish performers during that time such as La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds Maria Escarmiento, Kaydy Cain.
